Council on Rural Services Bus Chritianing

Posted by - .

With the expectation of adding five new buses to the fleet, the staff at Kids Learning Place decided to get the kids involved in the excitement too. The kids were invited to a christening ceremony of the buses with a “pretend” breaking of a bottle of milk over the bumper of the bus as they are launched into service.

The ritual of this kind of christening ceremony is done with ships as a hope of good luck and safe travel in the future. Kids Learning Place used it as a way to include the children and teach about traditions. The buses were purchased with funds from the Department of Health and Human Services – Head Start.

Kids Learning Place now has open enrollment for the Head Start preschool program in all our counties for income eligible families in the fall. For more information check the Web site at www.kidslearningplace.org call the toll free number at 1-866-627-4557 or the local centers.
